Uses 5 ft minimum bottom mounting height for rural / no pedestrians and 7 ft when pedestrians are present. Chooses the shortest 10, 12, or 16 ft post that leaves at least 3 ft − 1 in embedded (aiming for 3 ft ± 1 in). Bottom height is measured from the edge of travel lane pavement to the bottom of the parent sign. Mind footing / soil needs before driving.
